This TechNOTE describes the proper Adobe PDF preset configurations for conventional proofing when using the Proof Script. This document also discusses the setup procedure for any customer looking to add crop marks to the proofs generated by the Proof Script.
These configurations can be embedded into an AdTracker installer, so please alert Tech Support whether the customer in question is looking for convertional proofing or “crop marks” proofing.

DPS has released new “group ad prefixing” logic in both the Mac AdTracker and Auto EPS applications. This new logic allows for the pre-existing Group Ad functionality to be used in conjunction with order numbers longer than 10 characters.
The concept behind “group ad prefixing” is based on the fact that most order numbers contain a sub-set of digits or characters that are constant across all ordered ad numbers.
Both AdTracker and Auto EPS can now be configured to dynamically swap out these digits for a single character
“P”. This allows for ad numbers that exceed the 10 character group ad field limitation to now be placed in the group ad field in the ad jacket.

DPS AdTracker Mac users may experience a significant slow down in speed on the client workstation if the AdTracker volumes have been mounted via an Apple File Sharing Protocol connection.
The problem is caused by an unexplained delay in the Mac’s UNIX “find” command when accessing certain server volumes. AdTracker uses this command to verify if there is an active lock file on the document. By default, the document’s creator puts the lock file in the same folder as the ad document in question. Some patch either at the server or client has caused this “find” operation to timeout.
In order to circumvent this limitation of the AFP service and the Mac’s UNIX “find” command, DPS has provided a configuration setting that will force the ad document to be copied to the local client before editing.
This copy is lightweight and allows the lock to be written locally. AdTracker will look for the lock file locally, instead of across the network. There are no negatives that we have seen in this operation, providing that the users are on the same network as the file server.

If a customer experiences an issue with SQL and needs to restore back to a daily BAK file, Microsoft provides us a way to restore the BAK file along with sub-sequent transaction log files in order to get the database as close to the “live state” as possible.
The following TechNOTE describes the procedure to restore a database using the backed up transaction logs.

The AdTracker interface was enhanced to handle up to six fields with pull down capability on the main AdTracker spread sheet. This is similar functionality currently available with the AdTracker status field. As an additional upgrade, the status field can now be configured to have sub-statuses.

The new AdTracker Sourcing Module will allow you to quickly export, zip and FTP ads to a “source” location all in one step. When the sourcing vendor is done with ad production, the ads can be zipped and FTP’d into one location. AdTracker will then obtain the ads back into the system.
This Sourcing Module will significantly reduce the additional labor involved in preparing, sending and receiving materials to and from sourcing vendors.

DPS has released an updated version of DPS AdTrackerTM: X that includes a new feature called “My Workspace”. This functionality allows AdTracker users to easily access and track the ads they have recently worked on using
a built in custom query. All Ads in a user’s “Workspace” are presented on the screen just as they are when running any of the queries. This feature also allows a Designer to Assign Ads to their workspace. In an Administrative
mode, Supervisors can also assign ads to any user’s “Workspace”.

- Set Toning Status on import
- Set the Toning Status for an entire folder of Artwork all at one time
- No need to expand to set Toning status
